Beware of bin chickens in Centennial Park, Sydney

Take good care of the birds when you drive through Centennial Park in Sydney. The bird on the sign is an australian white ibis, also called a bin chicken as it has moved to town and also feed in the rubbish bin in the city as well as what is more natural for them in the ponds at Centennial park. Centennial Park is a big park between Sydney CBD and Randwick filled with trees and birds. There are riding tracks as well. A real green lung in a big city. We had great fun walking looking at the birds and the flying foxes in the park. This picture is taken in Centennial Park in september 2022.

Lightrail at Randwick

I grew up in a town with trams and I very much don´t like trams. But this tram or rather lightrail as it is called was a good experience. The tram run mostly on separate roads and did not mix much with car traffic. They were on the same level as the perron so it is easy to get in and off, The new tram in Lund in Sweden is the same even though I can´t really understand that such a small town built tramways. On the other hand the Melbourne trams were like the ones I grew up with. Difficult to enter, narrow doors, several steps up, tram stops in the middle of the streets, and so on.

Another plus feature with the trams in Sydney was that you always knew where you were as there are excellent signs in the trams. The buses don´t have signs telling you what the next stop is so on the bus you have to know where you are and where you are heading, So I used the lightrail when I went exploring by myself.
